Closing Out The Year 2023

From the perspective of our book Do Quality Differently, 2023 began for Amy and I in March when our book was published. We are happy to share that we sold hundreds of softcover versions of that book, and we gave away hundreds more of our Kindle version of the book for free.

The year 2023 began to wind down in November with Amy and I presenting at Takeda’s 2023 Human & Organizational Performance Community of Practice meeting. The meeting was well attended by many biotech manufacturing companies. Two photos from the meeting are shared below.

What better way to close out 2023 than to receive written feedback from a reader of Do Quality Differently on 29DEC23. The following message was received via our website’s contact form, and we will maintain the anonymity of the sender. It is feedback like this that has made 2023 exceptional, and we hope to experience more in 2024. See you in 2024.

I am a Quality professional maybe about 25% of the way into my career. I had encountered the work of Todd Conklin almost by happy circumstance and have spent as much time as I can learning about Human and Organisational performance as I can since. It has really resonated with me.

I had a very brief chat to our EVP of Quality in November about it as I got a moment to exchange some ideas, and I spoke about how I think the same principles could apply to Quality. She pointed me in the direction of your book.

I started reading it maybe 3 or 4 days ago and basically couldn't put it down. If the work of Dr. Conklin and co. resonated with me, your work feels like it's helped provide a sharp focus. It's like suddenly getting a pair of glasses.

Thank you so much for the love and craft you have put into this book, and clearly the work you've done previously.

It's good to know that while I try learn and grow as a professional and to help my organisation move towards HOP as best I can, there are people like yourselves working to shift the industry and regulators.
